Copyrights in China VS in America

I was surprised by how strict the copyright is in America when I first wrote an English paper. I had no idea what APA style is and how I should reference. I was struggling with the APA style for a really time and asked several professors how I can quote something properly.

In China, the copyright is no strict at all. Or, I should say there is nearly no copyright in China. We can download musics for free, watch movies for free, read some books for free etc.. There are too many people who said the same sentence and had the same opinion. You will never know who the first person that had the idea was.

One of my professors sent out a website which is called Creative Commons. I would say the idea of this website is like Chinese websites. People do love sharing things. If someone shared your pictures, articles, or other things that you made, it’s only because they love your works. There are a lot of people in China who get famous because his or her work that has been shared too many times. When a great work has been shared too many times, people will start to get interested in its author. People used your stuff without asking for a permit, and most of the time, it’s a great thing.

Of course, both Chinese websites and Creative Commons are based on people’s moral standard. If someone uses our work in a bad way, it could be a disaster.
